Harrop Proctor
As you dock at the pilings in Balfour, take a peek across the lake to the southern shore of Harrop Proctor Village. Only accessible by the Harrop-Proctor Ferry, this historic community was the transportation hub of the region where rail met sternwheeler boats during the mining boom. Today Harrop Proctor is regenerating itself with a vibrant artistic flavor.
In July, Harrop Proctor becomes the focal point for the entire Columbia Basin with a Heritage Storytelling Festival and Free Garden Tour that is well worth the four-minute ferry crossing.
