There is always something fun and adventurous to do at or around the Granby River Homestead. In the summer there are plentiful mountain bike trails, swimming holes just meters from our home on the pristine Granby River, and 240 acres of beautiful river valley to take leisurely walks upon. Just up the road lies the stunning Granby provincial Park with miles of hiking trails lining the upper stretches of the Granby River. Also nearby you can enjoy horseback riding with Owl Mountain Ranch and kayak trips on the Kettle River with Wild ways. The Trans-Canada trail, a retired railroad grade 2 1/2 miles away, is perfect for bicycle touring.
In the winter season you can enjoy a cross-country ski tour or snowshoe around our property on our well-kept ski track. For those of you that like to snowmobile there are miles upon miles of open terrain right up the Pass Creek drainage. During the heart of our winter you can actually ride your sled right from our home and store it in our heated shop for the evening, ready to fire up and ride the following day.
We are located approximately an hour and fifteen minutes from Red Mountain Alpine resort and a mere 30 minutes from Phoenix family ski area. For the more adventurous there is loads of backcountry terrain just up the Paulson Mountain pass only 45 minutes away.
However, if your goal is to simply relax, pick up a good book and a warm drink to cozy-up in front of the fire place in the Great Room. Or in the summer months take a chilled drink out to our wrap around deck, which offers plenty of shade and a spectacular view.
Just 15-30 kilometers up the road picture yourself huckleberry picking while you are surrounded by beautiful landscape, or stick around the homestead for mushroom gathering.
However, if you are looking for more adventurous activities, rock climbing,
hiking, and kayaking
are available up the Headwaters of the Granby River in the Granby River Provincial
Park.
Also, nearby Xenia Lake is a great spot to spend the day fishing or enjoying a picnic.
The cold weather will not keep you indoors here at the Granby River Homestead.
The property and landscape are perfect for a day of snowshoeing and
exploring the area. You will also find Rio, our housedog, keeping you
company during your stay. Once again, there is something for
everyone here at the Granby River Homestead!
